Our Story

How it all started...

Tom’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church was planted in 1913 with the emphasis of leading a community of believers in the Great Commission by encouraging a daily walk with God and active family and corporate worship.

The church was planted in an old schoolhouse under the leadership of seven pastors in the Eastanollee, Mullins Ford, Lavonia, and Bowersville area. These pastors examined 76 letters presented for membership, and Tom’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church was established in October of 1913.

This first picture is of the first official church building, which was dedicated in 1916.

The story continues...

Through the 100+ years, Tom's Creek has underwent many changes as it has continued to grow. The buildings are bigger, the members are different, and the ministry opportunities have continued to increase. However, through all of these changes, our commitment to the Great Commission has not wavered. We have continued in the rich tradition of doing all we can to reach our local community and the world for Christ.

The second picture is of our 2012 Wild Game Supper, where we fellowshipped with men and families of our local community, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Where we are headed...

God has used Tom's Creek for many years, and we are proud of our history in Northeast Georgia. However, we are even more excited and ready to see how God will continue to grow and lead our church in the years ahead. We are committed as ever to see the Kingdom of God spread through the mission and ministry of our church family. We are committed to raising up faithful followers of Christ and sending them out on mission.

Pictured is a group of our students on mission, who served the community of Huntington, WV in June 2019. They assisted in several humanitarian building projects, while sharing the gospel with local communities.
