As we observe Father’s Day today, let's take a second and define father. A father is someone who spends time with his children: he takes his time to invest in them, to teach them and to love them as he has been loved. As fathers, we should come to understand that our children are a gift from God the Father, our Father, the One from Whom I strive to learn how to be a father!

Fathers come in many different ways. I know I have had some good strong Christian men sent into my life who took time to invest in me and teach me how to come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and have continued to point me in the right direction.

As fathers and men, our call of the Lord is to be a father to the fatherless (Psalm 68:5a). We live in a world, and particularly in this day and age, where fathers are leaving the home and little boys and girls are left with the feeling of not being loved or wanted. Men, it's our place to step up and be what God has called us to be: husbands to our wives and fathers who are faithful followers of Christ, leading our families and investing in the youth around us.
