Pastor's Article 08-30-26

When we worship through the ordinance of the Lord’s Supper, several important responses should take place in our lives. My prayer is that each time we gather around the Lord’s Table, we do so with reverence, gratitude, and renewed devotion.
Remember What the Lord Has Done
First, we remember what the Lord has done—and is still doing—for us. We look back to the price our Lord paid to save us from sin: His perfect life lived in an imperfect world, a world that rejected Him, falsely judged Him, and crucified Him as a sinner though He had never committed even one sin.
His body was beaten and bruised for our transgressions. He bore the full weight of our sin on His shoulders and died so that our sin debt would be paid in full.
Look Forward to His Return
Second, we remember that He is coming again. He said that we are to observe this ordinance until He comes again—not if He comes, but until He does. Though we do not know the day or the hour, we know with certainty that He will come to call His church away from this wicked world to the place of perfection He has prepared for us in Heaven.
The Lord’s Supper should therefore be a time of hope as we look forward to the coming of the Lord, when we will sit down with Him and enjoy the feast, His sweet fellowship, and the company of those who have gone before us. What a glorious day that will be when our Lord we shall see.
Examine Ourselves
Third, we should examine ourselves. This means honestly considering our lives before the Lord, including:
How we are living
What we are doing
How we are treating others
Whether we are keeping our commitment to die to self-daily and live through the resurrection power of Christ
A great price was paid so that we could be free to live for Christ. As we examine our lives, we should ask whether we are still walking in that freedom—as bond servants of Christ—or whether we have allowed ourselves to return to bondage under sin and Satan’s deceptive ploys.
Respond with Urgency
As you examine your life today, I pray you will be honest about what you see. If changes need to be made, make them without delay. Jesus is coming again, and we must not waste time serving self or Satan. Instead, let us faithfully serve the Savior who loves us and makes intercessions on our behalf.
