Pastor's article 08-03-25

Our deacon election process has begun, and this is a very serious event for our church. The deacons at Tom’s Creek have a great responsibility to be leaders in ministry. They are responsible for supporting their assigned families as well as offering prayers and assistance to individuals in need. Deacons participate in committees, including managing finances as part of the finance committee, and are frequently engaged in maintaining the church grounds. Occasionally, inquiries arise regarding their whereabouts or current activities. They are actively involved in nearly all areas of ministry at Tom’s Creek. That is the reason it is so important to choose and elect men who are serious about being servant leaders, men who love the Lord and are faithful to church attendance and the ministries of the church. The Bible tells us to choose out men who are of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, who may be appointed over the business of serving. When a church doesn’t have good leaders, it can be a great hinderance to the work that God has called us to do. Therefore, I am asking you to pray earnestly, to follow the leadership of God’s Word and the Holy Spirit, and to choose out men who best meet the Biblical qualifications to serve as servant leaders at Tom’s Creek for the next three years. Tom’s Creek Baptist Church has been blessed down through the years, and one reason for that is our consistent standard of following the Word of God. During the deacon election process, all I ask is that you measure the men that you vote for by the biblical qualifications found in I Timothy 3 and Acts 6, remembering that you are choosing men to serve, not represent your desires. Thank you for your faithfulness to God’s Word.

Rev. Wayne Marcus
