Pastor's Article 09-28-25

There is a lot of talk about revival sweeping across our land, and I pray that we will see this happen. When there is a real revival, there will be real change in the lives of those who are revived. In Acts 19:19, when a people experienced revival, it was evidenced by their burning their pagan books. “Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.” Revival is more than attending a worship service or singing uplifting songs or raising one’s hands. Revival results in changed lives. When people meet Jesus and surrender their lives to Him, He leads them away from sin and into a life of sanctification. They forsake the old life and take up their cross and follow Him. There is a willingness to pay the cost of being a follower of Jesus. I am hesitant to believe that a person is serious about walking with the Lord when he (or she) is trying to find a church that is convenient to his schedule and that doesn’t require or ask for any commitment or service on his part. Christ calls us to walk with Him, to strive to be like Him, to hate sin, and to walk in what He says is right. It is denying not only yourself, but also the old ways of thinking, so that all things become new. Pray that there will be an outpouring of the Spirit of God, and that God will call people to Himself and that they will be eternally changed. We need a revival and only the Lord can send one, but we - the people of God - have to desire it and seek His face with all of our hearts.
