The Forgotten Inheritance
 
A man grew up in poverty after losing his parents at a young age. He worked odd jobs, wore secondhand clothes, and lived in a tiny shack, struggling for decades just to get by.
 
When he died, relatives began sorting through his few possessions. Tucked away in an old drawer, they discovered a legal document that had been there all along—proof that his father had left him a substantial inheritance. The money had been sitting in an account for years, waiting to be claimed.
 
The tragedy was not that the inheritance did not exist, but that he never knew it was his. He lived like a beggar while possessing the wealth of a millionaire.
 
Many Christians live the same way spiritually. In Christ, they have forgiveness, adoption, the Holy Spirit, peace, access to God, and victory over sin. Yet, because they do not know what has already been given to them, they live as though they are spiritually impoverished. The problem is not a lack of resources, but a lack of awareness and faith in what is already theirs.
 
“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:” 2 Peter 1:3
