Sanctity of Life

Last Wednesday night the WMU had Toccoa life come and share with them. Today you will be watching a video and given a bottle to fill up with coin to help support this ministry. Today is set aside as Sanctity of Life Sunday, therefore I would like to remind you of what this means and why it is important. In a day when people are killing each other and committing suicide at such a high rate it is important that we understand how God looks human life and wants us to view it.

There is no doubt when you read the through the Bible that Human life is different than all other forms of life. “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” Gen 1:26-28 (KJV)

Notice the Scripture says that God said “let us make man in our image” what is different about man and other created beings? It is that we are created in the image of our triune God. Man is a trichotomy; you are a three in one if you will. God is one God made up of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and you are a person made up of a Body, Soul, and Spirit after the likeness of God. A tree or plant has only a body, an animal has a body, a soul or psyche but as a human or person created in the image or likeness of God you have living Spirit, a soul and a body. In Genesis 2:7 the Bible says  “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Gen 2:7 (KJV) This means that you will always live somewhere, when your body is dead you will still be alive. This makes human life sanctified, different, and special, from conception to the grave we are too protect and respect human life. Therefore it is wrong to murder or take innocent human life. So today remember that abortion, suicide, assisted suicide and murder are all the same and a sin against God. Please know that God wants you see people as special and of value no matter where they are from, who they are know that God loves them as so should we.
