pastor article 08-25-24

As much as we hate trials, they are a very necessary part of our growth. If we journey back to days gone by, we will remember some very difficult times and be able to see the lessons learned, and times of exponential growth in life. In the message to the church of Smyrna, Jesus said that they were impoverished and yet they were rich. How could they be both poor and rich at the same time? Again, as much as we hate trials and difficulties and times of poverty, the lessons we glean, the experience we gain, and the deep understanding of the treasure we have in learning that Christ is enough make us very rich. Often, we don’t realize who we are, and the real value of relationships and heavenly treasure because we are so consumed with the things of this world. When we begin to lose, it causes us to take inventory and not to focus on the quantity of things but the quality of them. We always grow a deeper relationship with Christ in times of great pain: problems propel us to a passionate walk with the Lord, which we all desperately need in our lives.
I have no idea what you may be going through today. The personal battles you are facing can have many different faces and forms, and trying to understand why may be driving you crazy. I cannot tell you why God allows the problems in your life, but I can tell you what He is going to do with them. He is going to complete the work that He started in your life when you accepted Him as the Lord. You are the clay and He is the Potter, and often He uses perplexity and worldly problems to mar the clay and reshape it into the vessel that He wants it to be. So, hang in there and trust our loving Lord to do His perfect work in your life. He is making you rich beyond what this world has to offer you.
