Pastor's Article Feb. 18

In a world of evil, it is hard not to notice the great need for a life-changing message of hope and redemption. Multitudes of people grope in darkness looking for something, or someone, to give them purpose and meaning as they search for love in all the wrong places and for things to fill the void in their lives. The Bible plainly tells us how things will be in the last days. “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”  2 Timothy 3:1–5 KJV
To read those verses is to read a detailed description of the days in which we now live. Notice what it says in verse 5, “having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof,” referring to religious people who have not experienced the life changing power of the Gospel. There are a lot of lost people doing ungodly things yet hiding behind a cloak of religion. When a person gives his or her life to Christ and Christ takes control of that person’s life, there is a power that changes the way the person lives. The wonder-working power of the Gospel is the only hope that this world has. May we be faithful in preaching the only message that truly changes a person’s life. Jesus came to save us from the gutter-most to the uttermost. Now let’s go change the world!
