Snow in Georgia. It always makes me laugh. Since we very seldom ever get measurable snow, when the weather forecast gives a glimmer of hope concerning a day or two of snow, we all get excited. Most of us check the forecast every 30 minutes to an hour hoping for the percentages and inches predicted to increase. We fill up with gas, just in case we are told to stay off the road, which we know we are not going to do, especially if we have a four-wheel drive and a chance to go help people or to play. We stock up on milk and bread for the infamous milk sandwich, and we start calling to make sure everything that we are obligated to do is closed so we can get out and play instead of work or worship. Snow brings out the kid in all of us and, let’s be honest, we love a good inclement weather day. That is the reason the weather forecast can give us a 50 to 80 percent chance and we put a hundred percent effort into preparing for it. If you think that statement is crazy, go find a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread. What is so laughable to me is that there is a 100 percent chance that we are going to stand face to face with Jesus and so many fail to prepare for this imminent event. I think you should be ready for bad weather when the forecast predicts it, but I also believe that it makes more sense to get ready for death or the Rapture when it is an absolute in all our lives. So today if you are not ready to meet your maker, please get ready before it is forever too late.
