The Lord’s Supper is a special time of reflection on the goodness of God in that He gave us mercy and grace instead of our deserved wrath and damnation. The most popular verse in the Bible is John 3:16 that says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God so loved us, which speaks of His complete sacrificial love for us. He loves us more than He loves all the other creatures and vast creation of this universe. Humanity is His prize creation. He proved His love for us in giving His only begotten Son. Please don’t ever doubt the love that God has for you based on the storms of this life. We live in a fallen, sin-sick world, and many hardships and consequences of sin come with that. So, when Satan attempts to cast doubts of God’s love and care for you, remember the sacrifice that proves His love. As we partake of the Lord’s Supper today, think back of the broken body of Christ that was sacrificially given for you. Remember His blood was shed for the remission of your sin. His grace was made available by the blood atonement of God’s only begotten Son. God did not overlook your sin - that would not be justice, it would be perversion. No, friend, God didn’t overlook the payment for your sin, He paid it in full by shedding the blood of His own Son. Worship Him today as we observe the ordinance of the Lord’s Supper for He is worthy!
