~ Pastor’s Weekly Article ~
When we look around the world at all the things going on, it is obvious that Satan is actively working to wreak havoc. Yet, trying to put your finger on Satan is very hard. I mean, where is He? Who is being used directly by Him? He is the master of disguise. We know the fruit of Satan, but what He looks like or what He is personally doing is hard to point out. He works by possessing, oppressing, and influencing people to do evil acts. For instance, we know that He was a direct influence in Eve, and then Adam, partaking of the forbidden fruit - and yet His breath didn’t smell at all like the fruit that was eaten. Able was slain by his brother, and we know that Cain was greatly influenced by Satan. Yet He isn’t mentioned at all in the account of Able’s murder; only Cain bears the responsibility.
Friend, evil is the work of Satan, and He does His work by proxy. When you are doing evil, Satan is carrying out His plans. He is a liar and a murderer and loves to destroy the work and will of God. I think we ought to know that He is real, very active, and wants to do all that He can to be an influential part of our lives. So how can we get Him to leave us alone? Listen to this simple verse and then, if you are willing to follow it, to put it into practice, you can live a victorious life. “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.” James 4:7–10
May God help us follow His Word.
