Pastor’s Weekly Article
Knowledge of Heaven, what is it like? How do people treat each other? Is it a place of peace, or worry? Who is the Lord of heaven? And what is the main thing that people do in heaven? Those are what we would call easy or no brainer questions; right? In heaven people love one another and treat each other like Christ treated people as we read in the Gospels. Heaven is a place where all the former things are passed away and there is no reason to worry because Christ is everything we need. To answer the last two questions; the main thing that people do in heaven is worship and fulfill every given purpose willed to them by the Lord and of course the Lord of Heaven is Jesus Christ. These questions and answers may seem silly to you but when you consider the Lord’s lesson to us on prayer, you understand that our prayer request ought to be “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.” Think about it, Jesus said pray that God’s will be done here in our life as it is heaven. He wants us to start living here the way we are going to be living there. God wants His kingdom lived out here in this world according to the direction of our King. Where we live should not determine how we live, but rather who we live for. If you are praying that God’s will be done in this earth, let it start being done in your life. Live your life as a citizen of heaven and a pilgrim in this world. After all we are just passing through this world on our way to our eternal heavenly home. The Bible is my map, my passport says I am a citizen from heaven my name is recorded in the lambs’ book of life, even my accent and language should tell of my citizenship as people hear me speak with grace seasoned with salt. If your will or wants are not the will of God; pray as Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane when He said, “not my will be done but yours” as He was praying to His Father.
