I heard it said today that one of the biggest wastes of money this year was the purchase of a 2020 day planner. This year has definitely not gone as anyone planned, but we also know that our plans are not what matters. God has never asked me what I think before He allows something to take place, nor do I expect Him start anytime soon. The Bible says,
“O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!” (Romans 11:33).
Please know that this verse teaches us that we cannot begin to understand the mysterious way God works and what He is doing through all that is going on.
While I do not know what God is doing in the world, I do know that which He wants to do in the World. He wants the World to hear the Gospel, to know of His grace and love and to make a decision concerning Jesus Christ. We know that God is not willing that any should perish, and that He is long-suffering, patiently waiting for people to get saved until the Day of Lord. When the end of time comes and the Lord calls His Church out of here, we will be able to see how many people around the world were able to hear the gospel because the gospel was forced to World Wide Web due to a pandemic. Over the last three weeks more people have had access to the preaching of the gospel than any other time in the history of the world. Had this pandemic happened 27 years ago when I first started pastoring there would have been no way to preach to the congregation, but now as much as I miss Church as it was, there are actually more people hearing the gospel than ever before.
You can’t tell me that God doesn’t have a great plan to get His Word out to those who cannot come or will not come to a Church building. In Genesis 11 the world focused on a building instead of the mission and God confounded their language to get them back on target. In 2020 God confounded a gathering to get us focused on the mission. I got it God, now let us get back together and we will focus more on getting the gospel to the nations through every means available.
