"I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down. Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction. Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man" (Prov 24:30-34).
I write this after having come from the garden where I spent over two hours hoeing out weeds and running the tiller between the rows. It is amazing to me how fast a garden can grow up. Anything will be overtaken if it is not taken care of; a house requires constant upkeep, vehicle maintenance and a life daily discipline. The truth is every aspect of your life and the stewardship you have been given requires your attention and work. Friend, no matter if it is your family or faith your future will be determined by the investment you make in taken care of your business.
The Proverb listed above is a reminder that a slothfulness will lead to life that is chocked with weeds and falling apart. If you see a person that seems to have to all together it is because they have worked hard to keep it together. We have to do absolutely nothing to suffer loss, the truth is doing nothing equals loss. Discipline, hard work and living life on purpose bring honor and prosperity. Faith is not sitting around and waiting on God, it is doing what God tells you to do and allowing Him to bless you.
"Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man" (Prov 6:10-11).
