Promises Kept

I am grateful for promises kept! Over 60 years ago my Dad committed to have and hold my Mom in Holy Matrimony until death would do them part and was faithful to do so for 58 years. I was the beneficiary of a good and stable life because of the commitment made and kept by both my Mom and My Dad in their marriage. There have been many promises made and kept by people in and around my life that I have benefited from. When people make commitments and are faithful to fulfill them, they earn respect and honor for simply doing what they said they were going to do. It matters not if it is in their job, their marriage, their church or with their family, people respect you when you honor your pledge of commitment. On the other hand, when a someone says they are going to do something and then for whatever reason does not, their integrity and honor becomes questionable.

It is a rare thing to find a person with whom their word is their bond, meaning when they say they are going to do something they live their life bound by their spoken commitment. My goal is to live my life bound by what I commit to, which means I must be careful not to over commit and faithful to keep the commitments I make. There have been times when I have made promises that were out of my power to keep, and other times when I have made promises and have forgotten. in other words, things I would have done if I could have or had I the power. Friend I want you to know that we serve a God who keep His promises always!

"Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)" (Hebrews 10:23).

"There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass" (Joshua 21:45).

God is able to do everything that He promises, and because of that I can rest with absolute peace and assurance in the Word of God. May God comfort and call you to commitment through His Word.
