How has loved shaped your life? I love my wife therefore there are things I do for her that I would not do for others. Like cutting her toenails, scrubbing her back, pulling weeds out of her flowerbed and the list could go on for me, as well as for her concerning me. We work hard to take care of each other’s needs, not because we must but because we want to, we love each other! I love my family and therefore, I do things for them as well as trying to live a life before them that sets an example as to how they are to live. Love is a great motivator to work hard at being a blessing to those in whom have captured your heart. Of course, the greatest example of the power of love is that of God sending His only begotten Son to die for our sins that we might be saved and spend eternity with Him. The Bible says that we love Him because He first loved us. His love has motivated us to respond to Him in love. It is love that shapes the way we live our life. When we love others we live our life with them in mind, we make our decisions based on how our actions will affect or infect them. If I am committed to love someone, I don’t want to behave in a way that will adversely affect them. Jesus told us that the new commandment that He gave us was “that you love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples.” John 13:34-35 Love not only affects what we do but it also limits what we do, there are some things that love requires that I do, and other attitudes and actions that love forbids from my life. Jesus taught us to treat others as we would have them treat us. A good indicator of how well you love is how well you treat the people around you. How is your love life going?
