~ Pastor’s Weekly Article ~
If you are driving down the road and something catches your eye off to the side of the road, you are okay unless you fix your eyes on it. If you set your focus on it, you will go toward it without even knowing that you are turning in that direction. When riding a horse, a bridle and bit are used to turn the horse’s head and of course the horse will go in the direction that its head is turned. I think you probably see where I am going with this, the direction you go in life will be determined by what you’re fixed on, if you look in the wrong direction or get your head focused on the wrong way, you are by default going to start down the wrong path. Therefore, it is imperative that you start your day with a time to focus on what God has called you to do and how He is calling you to live. That is the reason we are to be “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;”
Hebrews 12:2
Life is difficult when we want to do right but look and think about the wrong things. What if you take control of what you are going to think and look at, choosing to set your mind on things above instead of the things here. No one would argue that living life on this earth is full of temptations when lived window shopping for things that are sensually pleasing. You have the power to take control of your mind by deciding what you are going to think about, and one of the best ways to decide what you are going to think about is making a commitment to look and listen to what draws you closer to God. Remember you are going to go in the direction of what you fix your gaze on. Listen and look at what is right, and you will go right!
