~ Pastor’s Weekly Article ~
The Devil would love to make you feel as though what you do for the Lord doesn’t matter and what you do for your money or fame is where it is at. The opposite is true, when we work for the Lord in all that we do, our investment is eternal, and God takes care of our needs. When you live in pursuit of the perfect will of God, life can be tough and measurable fruit hard to see, therefore faith is a requirement to steadfastness. It requires that obedience become the goal instead of visual accomplishment. I love to mow my lawn and look back at a freshly manicured yard, it is a great satisfaction to see the difference the work makes. A lawn mower, weed eater and some sweat can make a big difference in a short period of time. Ministry is so different because sometimes the work takes years of teaching, preaching, and praying before you see any fruit in a person’s life. Sometimes people never respond to the message of Christ in an affirmative way.
Listen to the message that we have in Acts as the Apostle Paul preached and taught. And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening. And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not. Acts 28:23–24
Did you get that, He taught from morning until evening, and some believed, and others chose not to, but Paul did what he was called to do, and the Word of God did what it was sent forth to accomplish. Some believed, and others would be accountable for the truth that was given to them. Our job is not to save or change people, it is to be obedient to God as He does what needs to be done with His Word.
The point I am attempting to get across is that when you are doing what God has called you to do, you can’t always look back and instantly see a clean manicured life after a message or a day of work, but what you can do is go to sleep at night knowing that you have done what God told you to do. Don’t listen to the lies of the Devil when He attempts to tell you that labor in the Lord is in vain. Therefore, keep on going and don’t stop doing what God has called you to do.
