Bless the LORD, O my soul:
And all that is within me, bless his holy
name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And forget not all his benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities;
Who healeth all thy diseases;
Who redeemeth thy life from destruction;
Who crowneth thee with loving kindness
and tender mercies;
Psalms 103:1–4
In this Psalm we are told to bless the Lord O my soul and all that is within me. Why? Because God is worthy of more than a half-hearted praise, we should praise Him with all that we are and all that we have. We are also told to “not forget all His benefits,” It is sad that we must be told not to forget the blessing of God on our life, the reality is that we are told this because we have a bad habit of forgetting the goodness of God on our life. His blessings are listed, He forgives our iniquities, He Heals our diseases, and redeems us from destruction and bestows loving kindness and tender mercies on our life. If we forget the blessings of God on our life we will give Him half- hearted worship, but to be reminded of His blessing ought to spur us to a life lived in wholehearted worship to our great God.
What about it, has God forgiven you? Has He healed you? Has He redeemed you? Has He delivered you? Yes, He has, and because of that you are going to offer Him Thanksgiving and praise. He is worthy of our praise!
Lift Him up with praise as you remember His benefits in your life.
