Over the next few weeks with this being the Christmas season we will of course be looking at the first coming of Christ. We refer to this as the incarnation of Christ because it was the time when God came to this earth and was incarnated or robed in flesh and dwelt among us. I would like to remind you that before Christ came as we read in Luke there was born one we know to be a forerunner by the name of John the Baptist. What was the purpose of John the Baptist? This is what the Bible tells us of His purpose:
“And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord" (Luke 1:16-17, KJV).
What a job John the Baptist was born to preform, He was to preach and lead the children of Israel to turn to the Lord from disobedience to the wisdom of the just. He was born with a divine mission, with a powerful purpose to be used of God.
The reason I point this out is because I know that we were also born with a powerful purpose before Christ comes again. We are to preach, and proclaim the coming of Christ and do all that we can to lead people from disobedience to repentance and renewal as they ready their life for the rapture. Jesus is coming again and it is His desire that we come preaching the love of God and do all that is within our power as the Church bring people to the knowledge of the Lord. Friend all around this world there are people who are going to be damned to a place eternal damnation and need to hear the message of redemption about the one that has come and is coming again that they might be saved and begin living with freedom and hope in Jesus Christ. As the Church I hope we are faithful to point people to the Lamb of God that takes the sins of the world.
