Pastor's Weekly Article
What does success look like to you? Over the years I have noticed that success is in the eye of the beholder. Some people think of success as making lots of money, being respected by others, and living a life of leisure. While others feel that success is having a family and enjoying fun things with them. Others feel that success is having a life filled with hobbies and being good at those hobbies. I personally think the success of a person’s life can only be determined by the Lord, who will judge all of us based upon the gifts and calling He has given us in life.
We must be careful that we do not try to judge ourselves or others when that is far above our pay scale. Only the Lord knows what our potential, ability and opportunities are.
So how do we strive for and achieve success if only God knows what that looks like in our life? The only way to be successful in life is to be obedient to the Lord and to do what He calls you to do with all your heart, as unto the Lord. You may be good at doing something, and like doing it, and usually if you are good at doing something you do like it. But what if that you are good at doing, is not what you were called to do. That makes it a distraction instead of win in your life. This means that knowing the will of God and pursuing it with all your heart is the single most important thing that you can invest your life in. There are many things that I enjoy doing and some of those things I could make a better living doing, but there is only one thing that I know without a doubt that God has called me to do, and that is Pastor. As you choose the steps of your life make sure that they are directed by God and not money, not others, but the one who will judge you when this life is over. Pastor, Rev. Wayne Marcus
