Much of America was out looking for a deal last Friday, getting up insanely early fighting the crowds in hopes of a Black Friday Deal. If fortunate enough, they may have saved a couple of hundred dollars on their Christmas shopping. Most people love a good deal and will go through great lengths to snag one. Therefore, let’s talk about deals for a minute. God wants your life so much that He was willing to trade the life of His only begotten Son, who by the way is perfect in every way, for your life which has probably been messed up in almost every way. When you accept His Son, you are submitting your life to His perfect will, and allowing Him to take control of your life. This means you are accepting His payment for your sin, His plan for your life, His power for living and a permanent home in eternity with Him. Friend, that is a real deal, one that is worth getting up early for, it is amazing that we don’t have long lines to get into church and receive this Christmas Gift.
This gift is referred to in 2 Cor. 9:15 (Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.) Why is it called the unspeakable gift? If this had been written in our day, I would think that it was because so often people fail to speak of it, but the real reason it is referred to as the unspeakable gift is because words can not do the riches of this gift justice. This is not a gift in which the value can be describe with mere words, a human lifespan of having this gift is not sufficient to realize its greatness because this is an eternal gift that at the end of our earthly life is only began. To know the greatness of this gift, one would have to possess it for eternity, which has no end, therefore its value can neither be measured or verbally expressed. All we can do is thank God for what we do know of it, our gratitude and life of service is all we have to offer for such a marvelous gift that has been freely bestowed upon us. Rev. Wayne Marcus
