How does what you believe affect the way you live your life? If what you believe doesn’t affect your life do you really believe it or is just what someone you know thinks? The Bible makes it clear that what we believe determines how we behave and of course that means that how we behave says more about what we believe than what we say does. Have you ever tried to write your statement of faith? You ought to write out a declaration of your convictions, why you hold to them and how you are willing to practice them. Then ask yourself the real question, which is where those convictions come from, are they simply what you think or do they have a true biblically based foundation. You understand that what I think doesn’t really matter unless it is founded in truth.
The Apostle Paul said that we have Pastors a teachers “For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:” Ephesians 4:14-15 God wants us to believe right, so that we won’t live wrong. Therefore, what you believe really does determine how you live. One of the greatest problems in our world today is people believe what they want to instead of the truth. Allow your life to be grounded in the solid foundation of the Word of God so that you will not be tossed to and fro in deceit.
