~ Pastor’s Weekly Article ~
Have you ever received an invitation to dinner and felt like you really should go but didn’t want to? Maybe you were busy, tired, or simply wanted to stay home, but you really felt obligated to go. What do you do? Do you start looking for a valid excuse, make up a lie, or simply tell the inviter that you are not coming at the risk of offending them? It is amazing how many excuses we can come up with to not do something that we don’t want to do, or that we have not placed a priority on.
I have concluded that people usually do what they want to do, and if something is not a priority in a person’s life, they will be at best a casual attender. What we invest our time in and make a priority usually shows where our heart is really at.
A great question to ask yourself is who oversees ordering the steps of your life and setting your priorities? Is it you? If so, it would be safe to say that you are the lord of your life. You are in charge of doing what you want to do. If you are not accomplishing the things that you know you committed your life to when you got saved, it is important to acknowledge that the choices you make rest squarely on your shoulders. You are the one who will answer for taking back what was once given whole heartedly to the Lord Jesus. Remember being a sold-out Christian means that you are sold out to the Lord and no longer for sale on the world market. You cannot be in charge, if you have turned your life over to Jesus.
Please think about these things as you adjust your priorities. Pastor, Rev. Wayne Marcus
